Who I am

I am a wife, a mom, a master gardener, and the author of the blog biologicalcuisine.com

I love life, everything beautiful, positive people, cooking, baking (especially bread), hiking, biking, travelling, yoga, reading, gardening, knitting, crocheting, and, of course, cross-stitching. As soon as I start a new project, I am already thinking about the next one. That must be why I have never had a boring moment in my life.

I was born in Italy and I grew up watching with admiration women taking pride in embellishing even the simplest piece of household linens by adding something handmade to it. Theirs was probably the last generation to keep alive the centuries-old tradition of making a trousseau for their daughters.

Every pillowcase was initialized, every flat sheet had at least an ajour-stitch border or some embroidery, and even everyday tablecloths and bath towels had a crocheted or lace trim. Growing up among such beauty and talent made me develop a passion for feminine arts at a very young age.

It was my elementary school teacher, a Catholic nun, who taught me the rudiments of embroidery, knitting and crocheting, and later I taught myself what I didn’t learn from her. Ever since, my hands and my imagination have never stopped creating something unique and pleasant to the eye. It’s my way to keep alive a form of art that risks disappearing.

People’s appreciation for my unique, handmade pieces have inspired me to keep cross-stitching piece after piece, and to make them available to the public.

My cross-stitch art

A cross-stitched handiwork makes a special gift that can become a keepsake or an heirloom, cherished for many years and then passed on to the next generation.

That’s why all my pieces are made on the purest natural linen and with the highest-quality cotton floss. Moreover, to add an elegant touch to the frames, I cover their back with Carta di Varese, an artisanal paper still printed in Italy with the original dies and patterns that date back to the 17th century.

Each of my pieces can become unique by adding to it the date of a particular occasion, names or initials. I can customize a pattern of your choice to celebrate a birth, a wedding, an anniversary, or for a special person in your life.

And what about ordering one for your home or to treat yourself?
